Tanner's 4th Birthday

For Tanner's 4th Birthday he decided to have a Superhero theme. Well, maybe it was I who decided this because he couldn't decided between superman, buzz lightyear, mr incredible, spiderman or batman. He was thrilled with this idea though, so for his cake I did all the superhero logos around it and plugged mr. incredible on top since he was the favorite of the week.

We did the party out in the garage because the ground was too wet outside due to the monsoon season this year, but it turned out perfect in there.

The kids each went through superhero training camp in the garage before they were given their ultimate superhero costume. Before the party I had each of the kids make up their superhero name and super power for the party. I made them each their own supershirt for when they arrived. It was cute what they came up with. In the end they got to spray the villain (thanks Naomi for doing such a great job) with silly spray to save the cake.

Saralynn came by earlier that week and made a mr incredible body. We had each of the kids get a picture with it and used it as the thank you card. Perfect and actually quite easy. This is Hattie. She was way too scared of Naomi as supervillain, so she stayed inside until that was all over.

Then the gifts. Everyone was super generous, and Tanner LOVED everything he got. He was super happy and polite, which made me super happy I had gone through all the effort of making his party. Thanks Tanner for being such a sweet 4 year-old. You are the BEST!

I love July 1st

July 1st. To me that means only one thing - Raymond.
I love the parade, the candy, the floats (usually a family one), the big family dinner at Dana's, and getting together with all the family, then chilling at Laurene's until we get to eat again. MMM eat. This year Doug smoked some killer ham. So yummy.

The parade is so fun. The kids were so cute. They had a blast running after all the candy (which did make some tense moments for me as I had to make sure they didn't run for the candy that was about to go under a horse hoof or truck tire.)

Tradition has it that we cheer and wave to everyone in the parade (probably because that's what we loved when we were in the parade when we were little). Anyway, I love that my kids do it too already. I think that's what really makes the parade so fun.

Cowboys

I love these pictures.
Miriam got the kids dressed in their outfits for fun and I thought I would snap a couple pictures in the kitchen. Tanner was so in character that I hauled him outside for some fun photos. He got tonnes of really cute ones and did an awesome job posing over and over again.
Hattie was cute to have in the pictures too. At first she was frowning and not cooperating. Then she tried to steal Tanner's gun. That's when I realized she wanted a bigger gun. The picture here is with her big gun, and she was ready to shoot it up!

Day Out with Thomas

In mid-May we went up to Calgary with the family, Larry's parents, and Kasen to go see Thomas the Tank Engine. We went last year and it was probably the highlight of Tanner's life. This year was super sunny and there was tonnes to do, and Hattie loved it too.
The day included a 20 minute ride on Thomas in "Annie and Clareabelle". What a highlight! Tanner had an open window by him and he couldn't keep from sticking his head out to see no matter how many times he was told not to.
They were so excited to do everything the park had to offer. There was Thomas to see and ride, a coloring table, face painting, ball toss, farris wheel, merry-go-round, miniture train setup, picnic in the park, and running around to see everything. It was a fun full day!

The family on the train

We thought the kids would be a little scared of the farris wheel, but they LOVED it!

2 months old

I can't believe my baby is already 2 months old! It's crazy how fast it goes. He has been way easier than my other two were as babies so far. He is super smily and loves watching the older two. He loves being carried around, but he still really likes his alone time. He is an awesome sleeper and usually gives me an 8 hour span at night. He does, however, puke as much as my other two. I am constantly changing his clothes and mine and we always smell like sour milk. Oh well.
We sure love him!

Happy Birthday Nana

For Nana's birthday this year, the big 50, we made her a 'Disney UP' cake since it is her favorite movie. Tanner and Hattie were so excited to help make the cake. However, they couldn't be told it wasn't a replica of Nana's actual house. They got to eat the extra icing and select the smarties for the balloons!

The problem with "Squishies"

The problem with "squishies" is they don't go away the moment you want them to. Tanner and Hattie like to take lengthy baths together with bubbles and toys. I get them out when they end up having a fight they can't resolve or when we have somewhere to go. Otherwise, they stay in there for a long, long time. As everyone knows, when you are in the tub or pool for a long time your hands and feet get wrinkled. Today I pointed out to Tanner that his hands were really wrinkly. As you can see by the picture, that did not go down well. He started bawling out of control and told me to "get rid of the squishies! I Hate squishies! Get them off my hands" I tried explaining that they have to go away on their own after a couple minutes and that he should just forget about them and get dressed. Nope! He stayed in my room bawling about his squishies for quite a while. Guess I'll never point that out again!
